Earlier this year, DKZ member Kyungyoon After its publication, it was embroiled in a scandal involving the controversial JMS cult. Netflix documentary, Inside This Name related to God: Holy Betrayal. Although originally DKZ’s label, Dongyo Entertainmentshared a statement that Kyoungyoon’s family was unaware of the church’s affiliation with the JMS sect, the idol soon opened up about his personal experience of being brainwashed and sacrificed by the sect. And while she shared that she was an active member of the JMS singing club at one point, she vowed to leave the cult forever after watching the Netflix documentary.

While there were some inconsistencies in her story that raised some doubts about her relationship with JMS, at least the overall reaction from her fans seemed supportive. However, he still received a lot of backlash from netizens who didn’t believe him, which led to a personal apology from Kyoungyoon despite being a victim of the sect.

In April of this year, she announced that she would be taking a break to focus on her health and well-being after backlash that caused her to suffer from anxiety and sociophobia. While fans hope this will only be temporary, apparently that won’t be the case.

On August 7, Kyoungyoon shared a letter with DKZ’s fans about his future in the group’s fan cafe. While he stated that his condition has improved a lot in the last four months, after talking to DKZ’s company about his band member status, he has decided to leave DKZ and will start enlisting this year.
